    No GPS today!

Jubalr is right. The quality vs quantity of GPS signal is important. This week, geomagnetic storms produced b unusual solar activity are especially high so some may experience getting lock on their solo. Giant 'Hole' in Sun Is 50 Earths Wide

Solo on Sale - time to buy a spare

That would make sense IF DJI products where on sale as well... However only solo and related accessories are on sale. Either DJI is pressuring them to drop solo or they have decided they had enough of 3DR's delays because they are losing ~$150 on each solo sold.

Dear 3DR I love pixhawk FC and used it for years,, But Solo *********

Lan and Philip are correct . The u7 with a narrow band antenna is often better suited for UAVs than the U8 using a generic broadband GPS/GLONASS antenna for the reasons already stated. Many here often confuse the number of satellites acquired (more satellites acquired is always better) as the...

Blue Thunder Mod is now ready!

Why not simply turn off the internal mic on GoPro (under GoPro system settings) and then use the GoPro Studio app to record audio commentary in POST ? This seems an over-engineered a solution without a problem?

    HDMI Passthrough with Gimbal Issue

Based on the troubleshooting you have already [reformed. It is going to either be a defective solo Gimbal Hero Bus cable/connector , or the Hero Bus on your GoPro is bad. If you have access to another GoPro I would try that to see which one is bad.

Solo landed in lake. I'm F###ED!!!

I am not saying it shouldn't or couldn't be implemented. I was just explaining why it is not already in the solo product. Right now 3DR has bigger issues to contend with like rewriting their Go-Pro plug-in for the solo app. I am sure at some point dynamic home point will be a feature in the...

Solo landed in lake. I'm F###ED!!!

However unlike the DJI product the solo does not require a smart device with a verified GPS. That is the big difference. There is noting in the OOB solo product that would allow dynamic home point to be implemented in a consistent manner since the assumption that a device providing GPS location...

Solo landed in lake. I'm F###ED!!!

Dynamic home point functionality has been discussed with ARDUcopter long before Pixhawk and the solo. The reason it was not implemented is that it would require a TX with a GPS or a smart device connected to a TX with GPS to implement. Actually it is not just programming as a GPS module in your...

    Dji hitting back

FYI the 512GB SSD is a removeable drive The X5R can process at 1.7Ggps. That is nearly twice anything out there at three times the price of the X5R Of course these are DJI marketing specs.so actual performance and reliability are still TBD.

    Dji hitting back

I am not sure what you mean by "hardwired" since the Zenmuse X5 is modular and can be easily removed just like the X3? Also DJI Focus is a separate product that cost $800 on top of the $2500-$5600 you already spent for the X5/XR. Still that is very cheap for this level of camera platform with a...

    Solo Swarm

There is a youtube video of it somewhere. I was there and personally witnessed the results. As the ID10t 3Dr interns armed the second solo the motors immediately reved up and the solo flew sideways into the protective net. around the 3DR booth. It fell to the ground upright but the intern was...

    Solo Swarm

This has already been tried at NAB 2015 with near disastrous results. Bottom line, since solo uses WiFi for connection between the controller and solo it is near possible, at least with the OOB solo configuration, since by default every solo has the same IP address on the sololink network. At...
