Turns out the upgrade to version 5 messed with the camera. I called gopro they had me do a manual firmware update and now it works thank for the help everyone

I'm afraid not if you use your phone as a Hotspot then connect the tablet to the Hotspot(via wifi) then how are you to connect to the solo? It to also needs to connect via wifi Your best bet is to do as someone said earlier download the maps of where you are flying in advance

ok, I just updated the firmware on the camera to 5.0 and now everything is working! i can see the record button and the camera shuts off when the solo does plus i can change the settings for the camera in the solo app, all of this was greyed out before

i feel the same way, i bought the solo at bestbuy black friday $350 went to bestbuy and got the price adjustment because it is now $300 and I debated in buying another one just for parts. ebay seems to only have gimbels but that might change
