    Preparing to sell...

I was one of the first beta testers for Sidepilot. I think Tom linked to my Sidepilot tutorial for mapping on YouTube because I got 5,000 hits on it. But it's been so long I don't know the current status of either the Solo or Sidepilot. I've got so many drones that my Solo will eventually...

    Preparing to sell...

Greetings all! I think it's been years since I've been on the 3DR site, and more than three years since I flew my 3DR Solo. Getting it ready to sell, but I'm seeing that things have moved on with the software. My 3DR app is still on my iPhone and actually connects and works with my Solo. It...

Does the Original App Still Work?

Ooooh... I upgraded my iPhone to iOS 11 a few years ago. That doesn't bode well for me. Now using iPhone 10. :-( Update: I see Krausz' post, so maybe there's hope for my iPhone X!

Does the Original App Still Work?

I moved overseas and have not had my Solo up in the air since 2018. Before I dig out the drone and start reacquainting myself with it, would like to know if the original app from 3DR still functions, both for the drone flight and for the GoPro connection. So, do I need to install some newer...

Is Anyone Still Flying a Solo?

Range of the Solo is what it is. It was that generation's normal range. But because of the limited range I really just use my Solo for mapping type activities now. I actually like the hefty nature of the Solo because I've been able to fly it in winds that none of the late-model drones could...

    Looking for Help/advice new enthusiast

I agree with Ed. Buy a motor pod on eBay. A GoPro 4 Black would be a good camera if the gimbal is still functional. And Ed meant to say "CW or CCW".

Is Anyone Still Flying a Solo?

Had four Solos at one point. Gave one to my son and one to my son-in-law, so now have two. Of those, one will not function with a gimbal, so I put in a static 3D-printed GoPro mount for mapping activities. Still haven't gotten either back in the air yet because my wife inadvertently came in...

Is Anyone Still Flying a Solo?

Hey, it's been quite a while since I've been on this forum. Moved to Asia in 2018 and haven't had my Solo out since then. Sooo crowded for flying here. If the weather's good, maybe I'll make a concerted effort to get my Solo out of mothballs and see if the batteries will hold a charge and the...

Jumping in, boy I hope theres water in that pool!

The Solo is a few years old now, but it was the leading technology in 2016. I think you’ll find it a great drone to fly, and it is still competitive with most of the latest drones.

Out Lady of the Gate at Mayon Volcano

Yeah, if I take pictures specifically of an individual, I always ask permission. If it’s panoramic, I just fly and shoot. And you’re right, almost everyone in the Philippines was curious and supportive of drone flying. Very refreshing.

    illegal shooting of drone?

Hehe... Don't get me wrong, I'm not condoning these laws. Texas has the most abhorrent drone laws in the US in my opinion. Many of the points of the statute, I believe, would not survive a constitutional challenge. And I hope someone does challenge them and have the majority of the statute...

    illegal shooting of drone?

Somewhat apples and oranges. Many drone pilots believe that they are only subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the FAA. That’s not true. Local governments can still pass laws with respect to drone interaction with the ground. So hovering a drone outside a window will probably violate a...

    illegal shooting of drone?

Normally the standard, but some jurisdictions have come at it from a different angle. In Texas you are restricted from using a drone to photograph a person or property in a manner that would constitute surveillance, per sec. 423.003. It's a class C misdemeanor. Plus, the person photographed...
